Bonjour,
My dad and I are spending the day working on the boat trying to get it ready to go to Cape Lookout on Thursday.
Yep, that's right, we're actually going somewhere.
Even though I'm happy to finally get out of the slip, I wish we had picked a better day to work in the engine room. It's 91 outside and 84 inside. I'm panting just sitting here on the computer.
And for that reason I'm going to cut the post a little short so that I don't die of heat stroke or something.
But be assured that there will be pictures and other things from our adventure when we get back.
Au Revoir,
Cameron

Not Much Happening
Hej,
Went to Beaufort again on Saturday to see the grand opening of the new Queen Anne's Revenge exhibit. It was amazing. There were tons of artifacts from the shipwreck, even a few pieces of sailcloth!
After the exhibit my dad and I walked around Beaufort for a little and stumbled upon the best used bookstore ever. It had hardbacks for one dollar and paperbacks for fifty cents. My dad and I had to pull ourselves away before we bought too many books.
Well, that's all for today.
until next week

The Sky is Falling!
Hey All,
I'm going to start this blog off with the photos that I forgot to put on last week.
I went ahead and made them into a little slideshow to make it easier to look at them.

Last Friday we had an ECU grad student on our dock doing an interview about Jellyfish. (we have a lot of Jellies around here). And a little after the interview we found her and some undergrads dissecting a couple of the sea nettle. A few questions later my dad and I got a whole lesson on jellyfish and an invitation to help out whenever she was in Oriental studying Jellies.
Last Saturday, we went to go sea Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Deffinately not the best, but not the worst. I think the this one and the third one are probably at a tie. but all in all it was an entertaining movie.
Then, after the movie, when went to go see a band that is local to Oriental. They were playing at a restaurant in New Bern, Nc. and we had very good food and listened to music until about nine at night.
Saturday night, I was sitting up on the foredeck and saw the biggest closest meteorite I have ever seen. it was so huge it lit up the sky. and instead of fading out I actually saw it burst. I swear I thought in a couple of minutes I was going to hear WHOOOOOSSHHHH! and then some big bang as it collided with earth. But, sadly, no such luck.
Until Next Time,

Blood On The Deck
Привет,
So far the past week has been very quiet and peacful. But yesterday I pulled my crabpot out of the water and I had caught SEVEN crabs!!! (one of which was a soft shell Yummm). But these crabs did not come out of the pot without a fight. My dad, whilst retrieving them, got pinched three times through the heavy duty glove he was wearing and dripped little spots of blood all the way back to the boat.
We he got done cleaning it, we fried up the soft shell (again, yummm) and ate it while the others were boiling. So that night, we had a wonderful dinner of crab enchiladas.
My dad and I are off to Beaufort today (sadly not in our boat) because an engineer is on board installing our new refrigerator system. So I'll try to post some pictures tomorrow of whatever we see on our little adventure.
Until later,

A Fin Off the Port Bow!
Hei,
My Dad and I went fishing today and guess what we saw?
Dolphins!!!!!!
There had to be at least fifty of them, but here a few that we got really close to.
Sweet, eh?
I was positive that one was gonna get a little too curious and give us a little nudge, and these guys were HUGE. They had to average about ten or twelve feet (which is about how big our dingy, the boat we were in, is).
But, my nervousness was proved unneeded and the Dolphins were soon on there way.
Also today, I had another close encounter with the elusive Stingray that I've been trying to catch.
So close, in fact, that my Dad actually touched in with our gaff (a pole on which a very wicked a large hook is attached), but at the last minute the Ray pulled away and we were not able to get it.
But I am positive it'll be back.

A Stormy Beginning
Hallo,
I have finally decided to start my blog again and I figured I should start it the same way I started the last one.
...It was a dark and stormy night...
Haha, just kidding. But I am starting it with the first storm that we've had since we got back on the boat in Oriental, North Carolina (a little pea sized town on the NC coast). The storm we just had isn't as big as the one that I first posted about, but still pretty wicked.
To give you a sense of how sudden it was, here is a pic looking in one direction (away from the storm cloud):
And here is looking in the other direction:
I'm standing in the exact same place in both pictures.
I also have a video clip of the storm approaching and eventually hitting us.
'Twas very wet...
I didn't have the best Camera so the quality isn't that great. But it's better than nothing.
The storm passed over pretty fast (seeing as it was moving 25 miles per hour), and we were soon back out on deck to watch it fly away into the horizon.
Here's a pic of it as it zoomed over our mast:
Weeell, anyways. nothing much else has happened since we got back on board. Except the sighting of about ten thousand jellyfish and three big stingrays (which I am hoping to catch one).
Tschuss,
Cameron
P.s. I will be blogging as much as I can. But for a definite, I will try to always blog on Monday. Unless I am battling the evil creatures of the deepest darkest abyss and cannot get internet.
